Subs for a regular cab Silverado

I am scratching off Incriminator Audio off of my list. 5 3/4th mounting depth for their 187 series 10. They don't have any 8's. I thought they did, but I guess I was mistakened. I know there were some 8's that people were raving about here on the message boards. Anyone remember which ones those were? Am I going to sacrifice that low end with 8's over 10's?

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. He listens to Rap and Rock. So looking for something that has some punch for the rock and a woofer that will dive down low for the rap

After talking to him more, he is already going from just wanting a little bit of bass to now he wants to be louder than all of his friends' vehicles. So I guess Ill change it up. Looks like he is going to want more SPL than SQ. So we are looking for a great SQL setup.

After receiving an email back from subthump.com, they said that they cant make holes for two 8" Subs for each chamber, which is understandable. Fitting one 12" Sub versus two 8" subs side by side = 16" across would be tough, but there has to be a way to fit two 8" subs per chamber. I really dont want to go with any other manufacturer of prefabbed boxes, but if anyone knows of a subwoofer box that will fit two 8" subs without sacrificing too many clicks out of his seats, which is not the problem. The problem is trying to fit two 8" subs side by side, not mounting depth.

I was hoping for someone with an 07+ Regular cab Silverado/Sierra to chime in and give some advice. Has anyone been able to achieve 4 8" subs in a regular cab newer body style truck? The >'06 style trucks have a little more room, which *****. I wish GM would have given a little bit more room in the '07+ NBS trucks like they did with the older style trucks. I wish I had his truck here so I could take measurements and see if I could build a custom box for him, but his truck is 300 miles away. Subthump does a great job of squeezing and molding around every nook and corner of their boxes so Im thinking it may not be possible. But in my past experience with box building, I have defined alot of "you cant do that with the space." I managed to squeeze an 18" RE Audio SX 18" sub in a ported box in my 2001 Grand Am GT. I dont remember how many cubic feet I was able to build, but I know I was able to achieve a slot port tuned to 31 hrz and it was loud as heck! Obviously, the SX series subs are meant for SPL only so I did sacrifice alot of Sound Quality, which is why I went with a ported box with two of the new 12" Alpine Type R's tuned to 32 hrz and it sounded absolutely amazing. It was loud as hell and the sound quality really suprised me. To this day, the new Type R 12's are my favorite subwoofers. I have had probably about 20 different subs. I wish I still had that car with the same box and compare that setup of the 2 12" Type R's with the subs I have now in my crew cab truck, the new RE Audio SE's. Maybe one of these days, when I get a new vehicle, which may be a new Challenger or Camaro, I can build the same box and buy the new 12" Type R's and keep my RE SE 12's to see which ones are better. Im that curious. Those Type R's are rated for 600 watts rms if I remember correctly and I was throwing roughly 750 watts rms at them and I felt they could take even more. I believe the RE SE's could take more than what they are rated too. Woops, sorry, I just got off topic.

But anyway, if anyone has any experience with regular cab Silverado or Sierra's, please chime in and help me decide. I really want him to have a loud stereo. I still have to figure out what component speakers to go with also. Im thinking of the Focal Access 165A's or the Hertz Audio Hi Energy line maybe. But Ill post that in the speaker forum. Im wanting to throw a Phoenix Gold Tantrum 500.2 at them. And maybe another 500.2 at his subwoofers since they are underrated amps and could bring which ever subs I choose, with ya'lls help, to their full potential. I dont think he can afford the Tantrum 1200.1, but if I come across one, I will definately pick one up for him.

I think I typed so much that no one wanted to read what all I had to say.. Sorry guys! Too much coffee!

8"

Can anyone read through the important parts and help me out? Can Shallow Mount 12's really pound? Would I get more output with 10's? Is it impossible to put 4" subs in a regular cab Silverado?

I just got off the phone with the Engineer from ProBox. He said that his loaded C110L-500 would beat any 2 12's or 2 10's. Its a ported box. He didnt tell me what it was tuned to. He invited me out to their shop out in Kaufman, TX. Thats about an hour or so drive from me. So I am going to go out their shop sometime next week. What I dont like, is that its a preloaded box with their own Probox 10" subwoofer. Id want to be able to choose my own 10" sub.

i have a 2006 regular cab silverado at one point i had 4 10" solobaric L5's in it and i mounted my 2 750 kicker amps to the back of my seats right below the headrest and that gave it enough room so the amps would not hit the box and the room for my seats in the truck was not that bad, after i had that in my truck for about a year i cut two of the subs out and just left 2 behind my passenger seat and ported the 2 remaining subs and i have one 750 amp still mounted to my drivers seat and it sounds great. if you do not want to sacrifice the space for your seats about 4 years ago i took my console out and built a custom console with 2 memphis m1's (still one of my loudest systems yet) and had enough room for 2 cup holders and a bowtie emblem in between the subs. the console box looked great it was practical and i didnt have to sacrifice any room for my seats.
