Subs firing forward

Every time I have sealed my subs off from the trunk firing forward there was a pretty nice increase in output. You can use rolled up towels to test it out before you start doing massive work.

well its pretty much fully underway lol, i used mdf and 2x4s to try and fill in all the major gaps, i plan in putting a few cans of expanding foam for the rest. Sound like it will work good enough or should i do anything else?

Hmm, can't really see any reason for noise cancellation, you are just lessening cabin/air area by cutting off the trunk, which should be louder. I'd check it on the meter before you do any other construction. This might sound like a retarded thing to say, but did you happen to knock the gain down?

i had my entire rear seat stripped, put it all in, tried it out put the seats in and its sounds pretty much the same. i dont think thats the issue. unless i ****ed up and didnt seal it well enough but im pretty sure its solid.

Heres it with the seats out...

I've tried the same thing and I still think subs facing the rear is louder to the ear. It always seems that facing the front and sealed off does better on the meter but doesn't seem as loud to the ear to me. I'm no pro or anything but one time someone told me it's the difference between the 1/8 wave and the 1/4 wave but I'm lazy and never put the time in to really research that claim, but the guy who told me that has 60 plus trophies so I don't really doubt him.
