Subs facing/firing towards each other????

I'm designing a sealed enclosure for 2 Kicker 15s for a friend's Grand Marquis. I'm making the box a "wrap-around" style with a void in the middle just so he can, at least, see some of his trunk floor. Due to the lack of trunk space, only 2 designs make sense...either have both subs firing up towards the trunk lid or in towards each other. There will be a 9.5"-10" space between the subs if they're firing towards each other...will this affect the subs' durability/performance negatively (if at all)??

Firing up would probably be better and avoid some cancellation.

That's kinda what I was thinking (the cancellation issue) but I was looking for a 2nd opinion. Thanks, adulbrich.

Yeah that is what I was going to say. The only bad thing about firing up is so much trunk flex/ rattle

That will be just fine with the owner. More reason for him to "show off".
