I keep having this problem with my subs, they keep cutting off. Not so much when the bass hits but after like 5 minutes of the music being on and and keeps getting worse as the music plays on. The lower I cut the music, it eventually cuts off.
The amp does not feel hot when I touch it though. Anyone got an idea ??
Maybe your battery is dying? Possibly the alternator? It could be the amp itself. I'd start trying things to eliminate variables. If you know a friend with a car stereo, I'd take your amp and put that on their sub(s). Don't change anything else, but that amp and see if his subs start cutting out. If they do, there is likely something wrong with the amp.
Also, make sure all the basic installation issues are sound including your wiring (grounds especially).
I think it just has to do with your amp. Borrow a new amp and hook it up to your system. If it is still cutting off then your amp is fine, and your wiring has a problem in it or your battery/alternator is bad and not holding charge.
Well, the amp is about 7 - 8 years old now. It has been pumping hard power for a while. I have a Punch 800a4 on 2 Punch HX2 15s right now.. before I bought the amp, they were put on 2 12" HX2s for a while....
