Subs at home help!

Is there a way to hook car subs up to your home reiever??? I haveo nly one subwoofer outlet on theb ack of my reciever so could you hook more than one sub into one spot??? Also could you hook up acar amp in the house some way??? Is ther e any sites with information oon how to do this?? Or does this wreck your subs over time?

yes you can do it, just make sure you wire it to the right impedence(some home amps require 8 ohms) put it in a box and your set. are you sure the reciever has acuall outputs to power a sub, it might just be the low level output, and you will still need an amp. and as for hooking up your car amp inside, it usually not worth the trouble, because youll need quite a large power supply to change your a/c to d/c power for your amp, they can get very expensive.

so what your saying is it isnt possible??? i read lots of other posts saying something about using a computer supply but it isnt really clear to me. So they also is no way of hooking an amp up in your house??? Cause i need to do this cause igot some subs sitting here thats i cant use then. Basically i just want to hook up my subs to current homethetra systme its a yamaha home thetre in a box edition and the sub with now is ok but kinda weak.

ok no one can answer this question, everyone says the high frquencies wreck subs but igot a sub outlet iwht ounly low frequncies. now i want to power a car amp at home, its a 400 watt amp, so how can i hook it up??? I just need to get more power to my subs and i want to hook up this amp from my wall socket. so please somebody help me!!!!

It is possible but it isn't worth the trouble or money you might as well go to partsexpress.com and buy a home amp rather than connecting a car amp inside your home.

You COULD use a computer power supply, and it will work (I've tested many a deck/amp with mine). However, you've got to pay attention to the maximum current output on the power supply on the 12v rail. I'd make sure that the current you're putting out is about 1.5 times as much as your amp will need (so if you've got an amp that may draw 20amps, then find a power supply with 30amps available on the 12v rail). Also, be away that it's going to look terrible, not to mention make noise (because of the fan in your power supply).

my advice: get a home amp, it's:

1. easier to hook up

2. less wires

3. looks better

4. more flexible for future setups

Can you hook up more than speaker from one output in the back of your receiver or would it split the power??

ill write an article how i did it at home. but the power supplies can only pull about 15 amps of current (if you get a decent one)

itl only cost you about $40 for the powersuplly (if you dont have one) and the wires.

i thinkl it will push maybe 200~500w

i would suggest a ported box for the lower power... my sealed 10" works quite nicely - ill make a ported one i think...
