Subs and loss of hearing

different people are different, i've been doing live music, playing guitar for 12 years, and drums for ~3 years, my hearing is obviously not going to be as good as my brother, who has always had a stock system, and used to play bassball, a sport with no loud noises..

so your ears hurting might just be from you not being used to sound pressure.

i remember the first time i came across the RE XXX15 in a snailshell, i couldn't breathe, i had to get out of the car, it made me kind of feel sick.

Just for reference, it's been said that in an average (AKA about equal to stock) install, 30 watts to the fronts can be too loud for the average listener. We all can't be that deaf.

While 140 watts isn't a lot in terms of power for a subwoofer nowadays, with a good install and a little luck you could easily get it loud enough to lose a lot of your hearing. If your dad's right and you value your hearing, get a smaller amp or jsut drop the gains. =)
