Subs and hearing

Just curious if anyone here has had issues with "ear fatigue" from the pounding of thier subs. I'm currently running 2-10" JL Audio W6v2's in a sealed enclosure. Sounds good...but they're underpowered. Got more power coming as these subs require more than I'm currently giving them. (800w rms on its way)

On the down side...I'm noticing that my ears are a bit "dull" when I get out of the car. THis lasts for a few hours. I never had this problem with my old Bazooka 10"...but of course it didnt sound near as good as what I've got now. I'm going to try running just 1 of the 10's and see if that helps...

Anyone else decide 2 subs is too much for thier ears?

I'll point out that I'm also 40, play rock and roll in a band and want to take care of my hearing! (But I sure like the THUMP!)

Maybe I'm just too **** old! ;-)

that is normal... along with the 'thump' comes the beating on your ear drums... i listen to rock a lot too... and the bass doesn't normally hurt my ears from rock...

however long drawn out bass gets to my ears... (from lil john type music)

if it bothers you try one sub or just turn the subwoofer down a bit (make sure your gain is set correctly as well)

I have been turning it down. I'm wondering if underpowering the subs has anything to do with it. I'll be at correct power for a JL Audio W6 if I only run 1 on my current setup. My Profile msx 600 can do 400w @ 2 ohm... The new old school Lanzar I've got coming does 800@1 ohm..so if I run both subs at least I'll be powering them correctly.

Its the same thing like going to a concert. Your ears actually "shutdown" to protect themselves from damage its basically a "temporary tinnitis". Listening to loud music, or noises for an extended period of time will result in this.

Still, got me thinking.... While it sounds good...I dont know if I want to risk any permanent hearing damage being as how I LIVE to listen to music.

Probably not a subject too many want to talk about on the forum.
