Sub wiring

Alright im new to this car audio stuff, but im learning. I have a 99 gmc sierra extended cab. i just bought a sub box to go under the rear seat, it holds my 2 kicker 12" L5's and i have a kx1200.1 amp. i know that u can wire 2 dual 4 ohm subs to be one ohm but my box has a divider in the middle so each sub has its own air space and was wondering if theres another way to do it, if i would have to do some modifications and what not. and if i understand right if i get it wired to 1 ohm id be able to push alot more power than the way i have it right now which is each sub wired to 2 ohm and then putting both positives from the subs in the positive on the amp and same with the negative. thanks for any help, i appreciate it.

From your description of how you have it wired currently it would show a 1 ohm load to the amp. Should be good to go.

Or....check out JL Audio's website under wiring tutorials....I thought there was a sticky about wiring but guess not.

Yeah, the way you have it wired is a 1 ohm load to the amp. The coils on the subs are in parallel, so each one is 2 ohms. And when you connect both + on the amp together and both - on the amp together you are putting those in parallel. And two 2 ohm loads in parallel equals a 1 ohm load.
