I have a JL Audio W3v2-D4 10" sub that I am planning to connect to the sub output of an Alpine MRVF357 amp I have. I have never installed a sub before so I have a question about how to wire it up correctly.
The manual has 6 different wiring diagrams. 3 wire the voice coils in parallel and 3 wire the voice coils in series. Each different wiring method results in a different resistance (8, 4, or 2.7 ohms voice coil in series) (2, 1 or 0.7 ohms voice coil in parallel)
My question is do I wire the voice coils so the resistance matches the recommendation for my amp or is there something else to consider? Do I care if it is in series or parallel?
Thanks
Jeff
