im looking for a decent budget subs setup for my 06 mustang. i am looking for maybe a 50/50 spl/sq setup and im pretty set on a pair of 12's with a single amp to match. i also want a sealed enclosure and a wiring kit totaling at around $350 if possible.

With a relatively meager budget, you are almost always better off going the single sub route.

I agree with the single sub setup being better. Two subs and an amp for $300 is just not going to be very good on the quality side. The extra money you save lets you invest in a better quality sub/amp.

Just search around for a cheap sealed box and amp kit...can probably find a plain Jane box on craigslist for $10 or something.

i had a Memphis pr 1.1000 on a pair at one point back when i was first starting the car audio bizz and i never even smelt burning voice coils, although it was a sealed box so i suppose i wouldn't smell regardless, but still.....they DIDNT BLOW

yeah i can get w1's for $80 each and then i was thinking about this amp: Soundstream PCX2.540 (pcx2540) - 2-Channel Car Amplifier Power Amp - Sonic Electronix

any thoughts on the setup or better suggestions? also im not looking for an amazing setup, just something that adds lower bass and better sound

is there any way i could wire them to a monoblock amp? because i was looking at the pictures of the w1 and it looks like there is only one "positive and negative port" [what is the correct term?] does that mean you cant run them in parallel ? just curious

a mono amp still has terminals for a left and right sub, if im not mistaken if you wire them left and right the amp sees them as parallel.

SSA Dcon's available in 10 or 12". Awesome subs , they play loud and very low. my brother has 2 10's in a 2.5 cubic ft box tuned to 32 hz in a dodge ram and they clearly play down to mid 20hz range yet the higher bass is great too. no matter what plays from droning boomy rap bass to double bass kicks from slayer and metallica it all sounds loud and pure. hes only powering them with a single jl 500/1. they cost 115 each new and they are just ****ing amazing!

i hate jl with a passion but my uncle has 2 w1 10's and he's sending 800 watts from a MTX 801D to them and he beats the shit out of them on the daily and they beg for more.

but i still stand by my beliefs. OVERPRICED GARBAGE!!

oooh thanks i thought they only had one input, think i would rather go with a mono now
