Sub/Port facing in a 98 Dodge ram Ext cab.

Ok guys im preparing to build myself yet another box for my truck.

I have an alpine Mrp-m1000 and two 12" alpine type arghs.

Right now they are in a wedge box taking up my back seat here tuned to roughly 36hz

I hit 136.8 with it but i know i can hit higher.

The box will be roughly 5.5cu ft gross volume, How should i face the subs and a slot port?

Subs up port front?

Subs up port up?

Subs front port front?

Subs Front port up?

it will be a basic rectangular style box

If I remember right for trucks subs up and port towards the drivers side is loudest. But thats just going from memory.

would it hurt to invert them? or should i keep them normaly mounted?

i was managing to do a 146 @ 30 hz legal with 1 18 and 3000 RMS sub up port up in my silverado.

that box is to big for both of those IMO.

it will change the airspace and tuning just a bit. no real difference in sound.

I am working on one for my '88 Ram 50 extended. I spoke w/ Steve Miller at RD Audio about a box for my 15" Alpha V2 and he told me sub forward and port up was the best for extended cabs. Make the port the entire length of the box on top. I've heard many different ways, It's pretty much up to what you like.

Ok right now my design i have sketched is 5.25cft gross. Subs up, slot port forward in the middle. it will have plexi windows on each side and a false floor for wire runs, dvd player, etc.

Ive heard port to the side can get loud 2 sometimes but i would also like to know whats better in a truck.

I had port up passenger side and sub up in the middle and it gets pretty **** loud.

Soon im gonna try [sub forward] and either [port forward] or [port side]

this setup works best. u should be in the low 40's wit that setup. try 4.5 cubes tuned around 33 with 16" of port per cube. subs forward port on the driver side.
