Can I go ported with 2 RL-P 12's on these dimensions?

All I can do in my trunk is 14"x32"x18.5", which is 3.45 ft^3 after sub displacement only (not port displacement).

Correct me if I am wrong, but box volume of a ported box is after the volume of the port right?

Playing with WinISD with 3.0 ft^3 at 34Hz, in order to get port velocity down to 17 m/s, I need port area of 49.1 in^2 with length of 72.5 in^2. This port volume is 2.06 ft^3. Thus I only have 1.39 ft^3 of actual volume to use. Do I have this correct that the volume of a ported box is the stated volume + the port volume?

If this is true, it seems there is no way I can do 2 12's ported right?

I played with RE's calc. Very nice. Now according to that I can tune to 34Hz and fit a 3cf box with my dimensions. However, this calc does not consider port velocity at all.

Don't I need to worry about this?

Im not a expert on box design or tuning, but based on your dimensions, your still goin to end up with a box thats pretty small.

Are you dead set on ported for them? I would suggest sealed based on the limited space you have ava. Or, possible using areo ports to save some internal space if you must go ported.

Personally, with the RL-ps, I would not go higher than a 32hz tune, but thats just me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i'd never go with anything tuned higher than 32hz, but that's just me... each his own. blah blah

Rl-Ps sound great with about 1.75 cuft NET per sub.

See pic in sig

try 2.5" port and turn it to 32hz with dimensions you can fit, what net vol do you get?

tunning to 32 would actually be more like 33-34, and net vol would be a lil less due to displacement...

if you're able to squeeze each into 1.7 you should be good...to go ported.

a 2.5" port for 2 12s??? Are you serious? you're asking for hella port noise there.

just go with a large sealed box. You won't be able to properly port them, but you might be able to gain some more volume by running a box that's larger than spec
Yeah I think you're right. I will go sealed at like 1.5cf per sub.
