what would happen if i put the sub in the port like this? doing something like this is the only way i'd be able to get my desired box volume, and port area. maybe flare it at the mouth? anyways, any suggestions? ANY

If you can get that much port area and volume that way, you've got to be able to do it with the port in the back too I would think....and even though that's not optimal, it seems like it would work better than what you're proposing. I really don't know though, never seen anyone do it like that.

I don't think that would work....

With the sub firing like that I would image it would *disturb* the sound waves trying to exit through the port...

Then again, you could have the next *snail shell* design or whatever... Try it, if it works it would deffintely have an unique box.....

P.S I'm not an expert, so totally disregard my statement above... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/chicken.gif.218ea7401db50d5e31a7e0b37e05e21e.gif

in that vid where the guy used the membrane to make a loud 6.5 the speaker was mounted at the end of the port. i say go for it and see how it sounds. maybe if you can get the sub position just right to where the air coming from inside the box leaves the port at the same time the air that the cone moves does may reinforce eachother. (I dunno what im talking about) id think youd want a pretty wide port so the outer wall is far enough away from the cone though.

That would be a function of the harness, not the HU, I think. Have you looked into a Maestro or iData interface? i would check with crutchfield...

thanks DB, that definitely helps swallowing a $300 price tag 😂 these would essentially be running midbass for me too

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...
