Sub firing position?

Currently i have my sub firing toward the end of the trunk, thinking that the sound will bounce back into the car. Would it be better to have it fire toward the car? Or does it matter? Ive heard different theories.

subs facing trunk, port facing trunk

subs facing cabin, port in the back of the box firing out the sides

i have a 01 corolla and that's wha sound good in mine, i'm sure it will work wit your also since it's a trunk car...
