I have a hds315 and recently bought box the sub is on the right side of box and port is also or right side but very hard on deciding which position would sound better and be louder upwards sounds a bit better but seems less louder outside ?
why do you want it louder outside? Dont be those obnoxious bassheads that give the rest of us a bad name. You want it loud inside the cabin not outside. Have the port facing back, have it on the passenger side of the car.

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage
