Sub box finish: Carpet, paint or __?

Got it done in raw MDF.

Should I cover it with carpet?

Paint it?

What about that "splatter paint" looking stuff I've seen on like Peavey's PA loudspeakers? Looks like tough stuff. Wouldn't really match my interior, but that's OK, I'd rather it was tough: I'll be taking it out from time to time for a 4th passenger.

I just don't know that I can carpet it decently; Anyone know of any write-ups on the actual carpet covering process?

Thank you ...

I hate carpeting but it usually does a clean job. Wrap it like a present and make sure the "bad sides" aren't the one you see. Look on youtube, there a guide on on to carpet a box.

i use a textured paint called stone creations, which looks pretty decent.

since i don't like the looks of it really, i usually use it just for the texture, which will cover smaller blemishes. it still has to be fairly well sanded with 80 grit first though. then i will paint any desired color over it and clear coat it with gloss or matte enamel.

i like it far better myself. far more color versatility. plus it shows that i'm not a hack woodworker who covers it all with carpeting.
