sub box air leak

i just got a R/T box for 2 12s. I will be putting 2 pioneers VCCS subs in there. Anyways, the box is obviously covered with that thin grey/black carpet. For a better seal with the subs, should i cut off the carpet right around the sub holes so the subs can seal right to the wood. Cause, i would think that putting the sub on the carpet might cause an air leak because it wont be able to get a very tight seal. Also, i know that the pioneer subs come with strips of padded tape to mount them with, will this stuff help.

Yes, you should cut the carpet just big enough to go around the sub so it is right against the wood. Apply a bead of silicone around the seal of the sub and the wood to completly seal it.

i would say for sure cut off the carpet around your sub and silicone is your best bet after that... i also used the rubber rings that come with the sub.. having an air leak ***** !! so make sure to do it right the first time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
