sub bass getting low... why

using + on one side and - on the other side. the sub is wired in paralell. i belive? JL's wiring diagram says its pralell, but every other wire diagram i saw didnt list the way i have it wired. if its not getting all the wattage, then on how could it be so loud? its very loud, until the power gets cut way back. even then all i have to do is turn it up a few notches, and its as loud as it was before it cut the sound down. it makes my wifes hair move a little bit off of 1 12"

So its like this?

That is killing the already sub-par amp.

It sounds like the amp is getting too hot from running bridged at 2 ohms. Run the sub on just one channel instead of bridging it. It won't be as loud but it will stop your problem until you get rid of that shitty *** amp. I'm surprised it almost handled the 2 ohm load well.

i would say so too. try to run it in series and see if it still happens. that means run your amp mono, the pos on the amp to the pos on 1 coil of the sub. run the neg on the same coil you just hooked up to the pos on the other coil. run the remaining neg back to the amp. less power, but will tell you if what you are doing is the problem.
