Well, my buddy has a 97 Jeep TJ. Two Pioneer IMPP 10s, and a Kenwood KAC-8103D. Earlier the subs were shutting off. So the wire was loose so we fixed it. He says he was driving, the lights would dim, and the sub would go all the way to the bottom, them pop up, and keep doing this, and then it almost caught on fire, smells like burnt electronics in his jeep.
The sub makes a grinding noise now when you move it and the amp doesn't turn on anymore. Theres no fuses poped, and he can't see anywhere where it short circuited.
But he did have the stereo going for a lil while with the jeep off, its only a 300W amp but I'm kinda thinking with such a small charging system (90 amp Nippondenso alternator) it may have gotten down under 12V and cooked the sub and amp..
What do you guys think happened?
