i **** at crimping, i've been meaning to ask what you guys use? I usually try and use a pair of vice grips and tighten just a little each time till i can't squeeze tighter lol

Hammer on the pavement. Use a center punch for it at first, so it gets a bite on it, then hammer away.

Barely cut into the sheath and pull the cover off.

Same thing on 0 gauge.

And to crimp 0 gauge you use a hammer and an anvil if you can't lay it on concrete

those pocket knives with the razorblade at the end work really good for 1/0 for me. i just cut around in a circle until i can feel the metal and then pull the coating off. i can cut a piece in half pretty quick with it too.

Last time I bought 0 gauge the guy at the welding store was like "Dang, this stuff is horrible to work with, it take like 20 tries to cut it!"

I laughed and told him with my cutter at home I can cut 0 gauge 1 handed.

And I hammer my terminals on the concrete, sometimes with a chisel to kinda notch the terminal

any thing over 8 gauge i break out the rotary tool with a reinforced cut off wheal .goes right through it like a hot knife through butter .i never crimp either i solder it works better .just fill the terminal with solider put a torch to it and melt the solder .then when its all liquid solder put the wire in .if you cut back the coating to where it touches the top of the terminal cup the heat will melt it a little giving you a water tight seal .also not all solder is the same so don't use pluming solder get the electrical solder so don't believe ppl who tell you solder is solder its all the same cause it aint
