Stupid Question, Easy Answer

This maybe a very stupid question, but is my sub SVC or DVC? I won this on ebay and the seller failed to mention which which one it is. I will be running it off a Profile AP1000M amp. The specs are below. The sub is a Memphis Power Refrence 12". The specs are below. Will I blow my sub because of the power of the amp? Should I just turn my gains down low and it should be fine?

Here is a pic:

Specs of Profile AP1000M amp:

# Peak Output Power(4 Ohms): 650W x 1

# RMS Output Power(4 Ohms): 310W x 1

# Peak Output Power(2 Ohms): 1000W x 1

# RMS Output Power(2 Ohms): 500W x 1

# Bridged RMS Output Power(4 Ohms): N/A

# MOSFET Power Supply

# Total Harmonic Distortion:

# Signal/Noise Ratio: 103 dB

# High/Low Level Converter(Male RCA)

# Pre-Amp(RCA) Outputs

# Variable Bass Boost@45Hz: 0 - 12 dB

# 12dB/Octave Crossover: LP (Built-In)

# Variable LP Crossover Frequemcy: 50 - 250 Hz

# Variable HP Crossover Frequency: N/A

# Bass Level Remote Control (16.4 ft)

# Variable 12dB/Octave Subsonic Filter: 20 - 50 Hz

# Variable Phase Control: 0 - 180¡Æ

# Fuse(s): 2 X 30A

# Dimensions (WxHxD): 13 5/8" X 2" x 10 1/4"

# Power/Speaker Terminal Size(Gauge): 4/6

Specs of Memphis Power Refrence 12" sub:

* 2" Black anodized aluminum vented voice coil former

* High-strength wide roll surround

* Chrome plated vented basket

* Tough rubber top gasket

* RMS/Peak (W)- 250/450

* Sensitivity (dB) - 88

* Magnet Size (Oz) - 50

* Mounting Depth (in) - 5.4

Thanks!!!!

No, just stop and disconnect everything. You need to wire both of the terminals together. Either black to black and red to red (parallel = divide ohms) or black to red and vice versa (series = double ohms). Pick which one you want, and then you'll be set.

I still use the wire that is already there correct? I do not need to get any other wires. So I can just take the existing wire and slice it down the middle to connect one piece to the black and the other piece to the other black and it will be ready to be hooked up?

Thanks for your help PV Audio. Does anyone know how the SQ and SPL will compare to a Kicker CVR? Also, will I damage the Memphis because of the wattage the amp puts out?

Assuming it's a 4 ohm DVC, here are the wiring options for 1 sub.

OK, so I have it post from box to pos to sub and neg from box to neg to sub. Now how do I combine the pos from the sub to the other pos terminal? and same thing for neg to neg? Do I strip a new piece of wire, put on end into the pos terminal that already has wire in it and the other end into the empty terminal, and that's it? Or do I wrap the new stripped pos wire around the existing pos wire and take the other end and insert it into the empty terminal? Please help!
