Stupid question but just want a second opinion.

I am satisfied with the output from my subs after getting two SA12's and a Brz1700 watt amp, but what i am lacking now is SQ...

When I turn up the music to 40/50 where I tuned the amp at, it is very loud but the music is pretty distorted.

Interior speakers are Kicker 11DS68's all around, they are 35 watts rms each.

They are currently powered off the HU which puts out 20x4 watts

Would the obvious solution to this problem be to buy a 4 channel amp that puts out 35 watts per channel and would I see a noticeable difference vs. running the speakers off HU power?

Thanks in advance and if you guys have any amps that fit the description for sale, please give me a pm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Amping would make them sound better, but that's a hell of a substage. A decent front stage is really what is needed. A set of good component speakers that are properly amped is the best way to go.

Thanks for the input, what components would you recommend? Also what amp to pair with them?

Probably around 350$ for both the amp + components, i would totally pick up your dd's if you had the other mid :/
Definitely the DD's then. I know I'm kind of pissed at myself since I did that.

To amp them, depends on what you are gonna run for rear fill.

I would go with something in the range of 4x75W if you wanted to run amped rears, or just a 100W 2 channel if you wanted no fill or running it off the headunit.

Get a 4x50-75 amp first and see how you like it. Even decent coaxs will sound MUCH better off amped power. If you're still not happy then get a set of comps and bridge the 4ch to them.

What do you mean bridge the 4 channel to the components? I'll start out by buying a 4 channel and hooking it up to the coaxs to see how they sound.

I just don't want to end up buying a 50x4 then wanting to get a set of components that are rated at 90 watts each

That's why I said you could bridge the 4ch to 2ch's and get more power out of it. MBQuart has some decent budget friendly 4ch amps...

I can bridge a 2 channel and a 4 channel even if they are different brand amps?

Sorry I have never done anything with anything but monoblock amps so far, so I am definitely going to have to do some research before making some purchases.

You are not strapping amps, you're taking a 4ch amp and bridging the channels so it's a 2ch amp and will put out more power that way.

Solid amp, I have one powering some Nendo supertweeters in my ride. Takes 8g power/ground wires...
Could I use 4 gauge instead? Just shave down the end until it fits? I just have lots of 4 gauge lying around.

Also am I going to have to buy some rca splitters? Or do I just take a set of RCA's and run them from my current monoblock amp's RCA outputs to the RCA inputs on the 4 channel?
