Stupid Headunit Removal

Got Bass?
Trying to f'in install a radio in my dads 2001 Ford Escape. Got it for him for christmas and I cannot get the **** DIN tools to work. I stick them in, it clicks, I push outward and pull like a mother Fu$*er and it won't come out! I've tried using them deeper and less deep and it just will not come out. WTF.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've been working on this thing for about an hour now.

The four little pin hole set up? the tools the little U shaped wire? I hate those **** things. sometimes pushing them in until they click, then squeezing the tools inwards works. It will come out lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'll try the inward thing. I've jammed screwdrivers in the top/bottom/sides trying to pry it out, and I've recently discovered yanking from grabbing inside the tape player gives lots of pressure, but it still won't come out!!!

cant you take the bezel off and take all the screws out?
lmao that was my next suggestion, and what I ended up doing on the last ranger I worked on. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The tabs sometimes lean against the dash or frame making it difficult to pull out sometimes. You actually have to nudge the stock radio itself to get itself unnudged from the dash. When pushing the ford keys in, make sure you lined them up correctly, then pull outwards, not inwards. Sometimes it helps to partially pull one side out.

Well just finished up about an hour ago with everything. Took longer getting the stock headunit out then it did to wire and check everything worked on the new one. Here's how I eventually got it out:

3 people and 15 minutes!! Stupid, stupid ford DIN headunits.

I didn't want to take the bezel off because I was worried about scratching up that hard vinyl or w/e ford interiors are made out of. Dad isn't a huge fan of that kind of stuff. In my own car it would have been long gone. Plus, it was supposed to be so easy, I figured it'd eventually just work, which it did thank god. Anyways, thanks for everyones help!
