i take my razor and cut a slit in the insulation about .5 in or so down, then cut all the way around the wire in a circle

box cutter, razor knife, utility knife, pretty much a knife with a very sharp razor

razor knife... sharper= more control and less damaged/cut wires.

Yes...and they work wonderfully for cutting, as well as stripping, larger gauge wires...I use them on 4 & 0 gauge wiring every day at work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I use regular wire cutter and cut in a circle around the wire, than stright up the center and just pull it apart. cutting the wire itself is hard tho //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I use a pair of coaxial cable strippers, the kind you see CATV guys using to quicky strip RG-6 cable.

Once or twice around, slits the jacket nicely and leaves a very clean cut.

i also burn smaller wire with a lighter, the while it's still pliable, the jacketing just pulls apart
