Razor blades are nice.
For big round wires, though, I use Dykes. I have a pretty sharp pair of Dykes, and they shear through nearly anything like buttah. But that's for the bigger gauges, for smaller ones I use a wire-stripping tool. You can get them nearly anywhere for like $3 bucks.
