Bass (car audio) and Bass (fishing)????

Weird, right?

I love competing in car audio events like USACI and building car audio systems...hell, I work at a car audio shop. I also enjoy building systems as a hobby. But, anytime I get the chance...I'm on a lake or river bass fishing.

Its just strange that my pastimes are spelled the same....lmao.

Hell, I pretty much lived on the lake all through high school. I worked my *** off and bought a truck when I was 16. My next purchase was an old bass boat....then a system for the truck...lol

Last summer, I bought a (new to me) '96 Alumaweld bass boat w/ a 90hp merc. I have never put a system in my own boat (gotta be quite when you fish), but I have built quite a few in customer's ski/bass boats here at the shop. Hell, my new boat has an old worn out dual HU w/ 2 6.5" speakers (one blown)...but I would rather spend ~$250 on a new rod/reel than replace the crap audio in my boat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif (I just fish w/ it anyways, couldn't care less about an audio system)

Anyone here also a fisherman?

And on that note, anyone tried the Alabama-Rig?

I would like to put a new side imaging fish finder on my boat along w/ new batts and a new rod/reel or 2....but at the same time, I would like to rebuild my Avalanche w/ a louder system (possibly 4-18 DD2500) and more batts.

One thing that holds me up it this...

I have a 151+dB system in my Avalanche now. My vehicle acts as a demo vehicle for the shop. So, the more impressive it is, the more attention it draws. BUT, 151dB locally is pretty much UNREAL to the average joe!!! No other shop around here has produced a 150+daily vehicle in years. But, since I built this daily driver last year...the other local shops know it is here in town and is acting as a promotional vehicle. They could (if the actually had the know-how) build a compatible vehicle to combat mine. (2 DD M2a on 2 DD3515) But after seeing many of their builds and "subwoofer design theories"...I just don't see them besting this system (given as flat a response as my current design for daily use) anytime soon w/ anywhere near the same power input as my current design.

I could easily see other local shops trying to 'up the ante' for our future SPL competitions...or even try to cheat.

I have had word from many of my customers that one of the local shops called us cheaters because alot of our customers place top 3 or even won at out past events. That same shop has an old AC-meter, I meter w/ the TL....lmao.

As soon as I file my taxes, I will know how much $ I have to work with.

Damit...bass or bass.

Fight the possible retail competition, or fuel my hard core addiction to fish.

Where do I spend my $????

EDIT:

One of the guys that when to "them" to get metered did a 151ish on their AC-meter. I metered him at 145ish on my TL...lmao (that was about a year ago)

"They" built his system.

I say improve your boat system that way you can have bass with your bass, since you love bass so much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

(That's not saying bass while you bass, or bass while you bass... either way I woulnd't mix bass with bass)

I do like bass though.

Man, makes me wanna hit the lake myself. We have a local reservoir that I occasionally fish in, but it's mostly small stuff. I enjoy fishing for brem and use an ultra light pole. That is sometimes a mistake, one time got ahold of a 3 pound catfish on 4lb line on that pole. Had to drag it along the pier to the bank to get it in LOL

I caught this on 11/14/11.

Hit the water at ~5:30AM...had them all in the live well by 7:30AM. All on a ~8ft firetiger bandit crank in the Ouchita River just north of Jonesville, LA.

The shad moved out and the weather went to ****, so I went back to the landing. The wind was hell that morning, I set in ~30ft of water and cast to a point. Everytime I hooked a fish the wind would try to blow me over the hole. If I had another person in the boat to control the trolling motor, I could have boated alot more. I had to push the boat out into the river everytime to avoid rolling over the point the fish were suspended on.

But, 7 keeper rock bass and a stripe aint bad //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

EDIT:

Filet all of them. Had a hell of a baked bass lunch and ziplok bagged/froze the rest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

On a side note, if you are not an avid fisherman and catch a striped bass, make sure you trim the red meat from the filets when you clean your fish...just a heads up.
