stock radio with components okay?

im planning to upgrade my speakers in my 03 corolla. i have a stock in-dash jbl 6 cd and i want to keep that feature. im buying phoenix gold 6.5 components and the front and 6x9 pg at the back.

im wondering if my stock radio would be good for the speaker upgrades.

im not looking to crack the volume up to be noticed, i just want drown the road noise with music.

i am using a stock radio right now with my Seas Lotus References. It sounds great, I am sure it could sound better, which is why I have a h/u on the way. But you can acheive a satisfying sound with the stock radio, especially if you use a JL Audio Cleansweep.

I am using a Navone LOC currently, costs like $20-30 and sounds darn good.

Are you going to amp the speakers?

Or power them with the stock deck?

if you have an upgraded aftermarket radio and a good quality line out converter.

nothing beats a quality aftermarket deck + aftermarket amplifier though.

i would NOT use components with a stock headunit. evar.

I have to agree with req on this one, couldn't live with myself knowing it 'would' get better with an aftermarket unit. You can find some affordable sources on the market today you don't have to drop a ton of money on a headunit to achieve the sound quality your looking for, and just think of all the cool dolphins!..Wow...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
