Hey guys I have a 96 chevy silverado 1500 and I am looking to put a sound system in my truck. I will be pushing somewhere around 750 rms with a kicker l7. The amp will be a monoblock class D. Will my stock electrical system be enough to run this system?

It should as long as you use proper wire size and maybe a capacitor.

750 watts and it being a class d you will be fine. I would run 4gauage. Even if you want to upgrade in the future you will be fine with 4 ga.

x2...I had a '99 Silverado prior to my present '08 Silverado (both 1500's) and the '99 had a about 700w max...I used 8 guage wire, high quality RCA's, 12 gauge speaker and yes, I will admit it, I did have a 1.5 farad cap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif That was BEFORE I knew about the Big 3. Anyways, it worked just fine on stock alternator and stock battery.

Yeah I know about the big three and I kinda looked at it a while back on another forum but I had no idea what was going on when they tried to describe how to do it so I never really gave it any thought. I just figured it was over my head.

When it comes to car audio, the Big 3 is probably the easiest thing you can ever do!

When the stock battery goes (if you keep everything in that long) I would replace it with an agm like a kinetik, deka or whatever you can afford. They tend to be a lot more durable, no need to add water, and can take a larger discharge better.

you should be fine.
