lol i was driving down the road a while ago and listened to this song for the first time on the system, 3 6 mafia - Knock tha black off ya ***. For the first 30 seconds of the song my entire electrical system of the car was runnin at 12v, then after whatever note there was a difference in the lights that would be like comparing your brights to the dims. How long is safe to let your car run off 12v? Are there any componets that could get damaged from not running at least 14.4 or so volts? And if i add a spill proof battery near the amps would that help the car or would the amps stilll **** all juice straight from the alty resulting with the cars electrical still just getting 12v?

big 3 all in 1/0 gauge, deep cycle in the back with 1/0 and call it a day. and over time yes ******* that much juice is gonna kill your batt and alt. not tomorrow but overtime yes

even after that would my lights still dim like they do?
well im sure not to the point its at now. i did all that what i told you to and i went from 11.8voltage drops to 13.3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my stock alt can hold my goliath pretty well, didnt think it would of near this good

i dont see how people with way smaller systems have a bad of dimming as they do

can people not ground good and do simple stuff?

my guess would be his amps gains are maxed and that bass boost is probably either all the way up or very close

12v is what the car is designed to run at. The alt has to produce a bit more for the battery to charge. Nothing in the car will be harmed by running it forever at 12v, but you will eventually drain the battery. At that point things will start going out, probably starting with the amp.

Check the gains, when I had my Xenons installed the installer had the gains up way to high which resulted in dimming. There is a turtorial on here some where using a DMM. Give that a shot. As stated big 3, deep cycle batt will also help.

i know this is an old thread but im just curious if i did have the gains and bass boost to the max lol, would it be ******* more than that goliath? Or can someone explain in simple terms the difference between bass boost and simply a bigger amp without the bass boost.

I can't really answer your question completely, but setting your gains up all the way and the bass boost all the way is not a good idea. Very easy to cause clipping and damaging your woofer(s) and amp(s). My suggestion would be to get a better amp, provided your sub can handle more power. Also it depends on the amps, some are very power hungry, others arent. My Treo SSX 1500.1 which I'll be ridding of in a couple days, requires 200A. That amp is rated at 3000w @ 1 ohm. I used to have a POS Visonik 900XD, and it needed 160A and it was rated at 1000w @ ohm I believe.
