My stock alternator went out today. I am running 600w rms with a jbl bp600.1, and the stock alternator for my truck is rated at 95amps. Should the alternator have been able to handle 600w?

Would a new 95amp alternator be sufficient? What if I did the big 3?

Well, it's a long story, but you'll just have to take my word for it that I'm not in a situation where I can get a HO alt at the moment. If it's absolutely necessary, I will get one, but I wanted to see what you guys thought about another 95amp alt.

I had a stock 105 amp alternator and I was running about 2500 watts for a few months. Then I took out the system... 2 months later the alternator died. You should be fine on a 95 amp alternator. Just do the big 3 and hope the next alternator isn't a dud.

(stock alt amperage)(volts stock alt puts out) = how many watts you can support.. usually take minus 200 for the rest of the vehicle, just to be on the safe side.

in your case, 95 amps is more than enough

95a X13.6v = 1292w

try to get a non ford alt though, they aren't made for.. well for vehicles.
