Sticky stuff on sub cone...?

Well i just pulled my Old Orion sub out of the basement and its got a gold.. sticky substance on the cone of it, and i was wondering what i could use to get it off without doing any damage to the sub..

Would simple green be fine?

What's the cone made of? If it's paper I wouldn't use anything on it. Maybe put a little simple green on a rag and wipe off most of it, call it good.

It doesn't have to be too clean to work.

If it's poly, kevlar, etc then maybe a rag dipped in soapy water, but I still would try not to get the sub wet.

Its metalized poly?

I figured i'd just spray some on a rag and wipe it off..

it came off pretty easily with a wet figure.. so its not hard or anything.
