Stetsom 10KD Amp testing "2800 watts at 9volts!!!!"

I just got done doing some more testing with my other stetsom amp. It is the 10KD "16 volt amp". For this test I used one sundown audio night shade 12" sub in a 1 cuft box(externally ported). The box is way to small, but that is all I had laying around. For my electrical I'm using a kinetik hc 800 under the hood and my stock alternator(60 amp). I didn't have access to my 16volts because I'm testing at work on the clock.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I love my job LOL. This is in my crx. I burped the amp with the car running at idle and the box was wired to 1/2 ohm. Here are the results................

I took all readings after about 4 seconds into the burp.

AC Volts------67

Amps----------42

Starting DC Volts--------13.9

Drop Voltage-------------8.9:eek:

Box Rise-------1.59

Watts----------2814

Spl 149.7 on a TL

I really thought the amp was going to go into protect because the voltage was so low, but it never did. I burped it about 5 more times after the initial burp at different frequencies just to see if I could get it any louder and the amp never protected. PROPS to Stetsom on this one, I was not expecting to see those results!!!

Dude, you're going to blow that amp dropping to 10v or lower with that low impedance so please stop. It'll still play but the stress on the amp at that voltage is huge. As you can tell you don't have even enough battery for the amp. Run it up to 2 ohms on that same set up and you'll be surprised still at what it can do and the amount of efficiency you'll gain. But please no more below 10v burps.

How many runs of wire are in the car?

We all love that you share test so keep the results coming. But when people that don't know stetsom products see these test, I don't want people saying that the amps can take 10v or lower. Because they aren't supposed to. I'm not yelling or anything but you have two people that you can contact before you do any crazy test that can give you advise before you blow up this amp in crazy testing.

I've run the SAZ-1500D's all the way down to 8 volts and they just keep going.... But of course, like dtbrown says here, that is NOT recommended in any way and obviously any version of amp, unless it was designed to work well below 10.5VDC should not be tested that way...

Didn't mean to start no trouble, just was board at work. I'm very well aware that they should not be ran that low. I was actually expecting the protection to kick in when I saw it drop. I'll be testing with 5 kinetik 16 volts tomorrow and I'll post more results. I still say that the fact that a 10kd can put that kind of power out at 9 volts is mind blowing.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
