Stereo Wiring Question

I currently have my front two speakers amped through the stock wiring. I am upgrading the speakers and amps so I am going to use new speaker wires for those.

My question is, since the 4 wires from the stereo for the speakers will not be used, could I crimp the positive/negative wires for these speakers to the positive/negative wires for the back speakers together, doubling the power? This would only be around 44 watts rms going through the stock wiring, which is a bit less than I already have going through it for the front speakers.

Would this work, or would I just destroy things?

Car: 2007 Mazda 3

Headunit: Kenwood DPX300U

Rear Speakers: MTX TERMINATOR573

If the original plugs have been cut off, you may want to get some from a wrecked car. You could also search online for a radio pin-out for said model.
