Stereo got locked.

I switched out the battery on my car and my car stereo said code ----.

Me being stupid thought it was something simple like 1234 or 4321 or 0000 so i tried those 3 and then it said oFF. After having reaserched it later that day turns out that was a antitheft code that the origanl owner should know, or it should have been in the user manual which my car didnt have. So now iam stuck with a locked radio and i dont want to switch it out with a new one. What can i do?

your pretty much screwed unless ur the original owner. For my friends car the same thing happened but luckily they had bought it from a dealership so they gave us the code.

Don't quote me on this but i think there is a universal way to unlock it. Whats the year and model of the car? I can talk to a guy who works at a car shop if you want and see if theres anything you can do.

If none of the suggested things work, just take it to the dealer. As long as they can see that there is no foul play at hand, they should be able to help you out.
