Stereo dies out when there is a lot of bass

I have an '89 Benz that I recently put 2 kicker comp 12's and a pioneer 760watt amp in. It worked fine for about a week but now it is acting up when I turn the radio too loud. My friend that works on cars said I could need a more powerful alternator, while my friend that has a system in his car says the subs could be wired wrong. Anyone know what the problem would be?

Uh.. not very sure... I got them used. They are a few years old. But I think they are 4ohm. Well the guy who hooked my system up put the ground wire in between a bolt in my car. Where is it supposed to go?

Nah. It won't go into protect. I had another amp before I had this one that did go in protect when the volume got about 5. The HU completely turns off and then turns back on or tries to turn back on repeatedly.

I don't believe that a 700 watt Pioneer will drain an alt but its possible. I would say check your ground wire and make sure it is secure also check your gains. How do you have it configured?
