I guess you consider me a newb when it comes to this stuff, but this is my setup and if possible can someone steer me in the right direction of calibrating the settings to go accordingly with my setup. to start i have:

head unit: pioneer avh-p5700dvd

speakers front: rainbow slc 6.5"

speakers rear: rainbow 6x9

amp powering speakers: Arc Kar 400.4

subwoofer: 10 type-r

amp powering sub: profile ap1000m

these are the settings in my headunit, and to be honest i dont even know what some of them mean:

EQ-EX? What exactly is this?

if someone could go over this and maybe help me out with my settings and tell me where they should be, they would be helping me greatly, thanks

SLA? whats this?

It's a Source Level Adjuster. It allows you to match a quite source in refrence to the Tuner.

HPF? whats this?

High Pass Filter. This a a feature that is used to block low frequencies from going to your speakers.

SUB:

This controls the SUB pre-outs. It allows you to remotley adjust the sub volume without adjusting volume to everything else.

Loudness:

This is a feature that makse things lounder. It's a little amplification that makes music sound better at lower levels.

Trebble:

Adjusts the high frequncy volume for all speakers.

Bass:

Adjusts the bass volume for all speakers.

Basically, "calibrating" your system is strictly based on you. You need to take some time changing things and finding out what sounds best to you. We can't do this for you because everybody has a different idea of exactly how they want it to sound.

thanks for the reply, ive been messing around with the settings a bit in the past, and cant seem to get a good idea of what i was doing now that you told me about some of the unknown options i will mess around again, and as far as the hz. go the lower they are the harder the bass will hit or the lower the hz. the bass will sound prolonged and not as hard, is that correct?

Hz means frequency. And that doens't mean that it will hit harder or softer. It all depends on your system's frequency responce. If a range is lacking, adjust that frequency a little higher to get it back.
