Stereo Bass gets louder in higher gear

I've been driving my daughter's little Scion 2 door car while she is Costa Rica, and have noticed that the bass on her stereo gets louder as I shift into higher gears, and softer when downshifting. I know I'm not crazy because my husband agrees that this happens after riding in the car. He thinks it's some kind of electrical accident, but I think it has to be designed that way. Any help?

New cars sometimes do that. Its to match the volume to the outside noises. Thus, when ur going faster, the volume goes up automatically.

In most cases there is a button on the head unit to shut that feature off.

Probably just how the car was designed. Does it have a stock CD player or aftermarket CD player?

Could be an alternator issue as well, but i highly doubt it.
