and HOLY SHIT does it make a difference.. i thought my system sounded good before.. now it sounds AMAZING..

can someone tell me exactly what loudness even does? i know it makes it louder at lower volume levels but whats the deal with the 12 db slope thing i dont know what that means..

and is it ok to turn my HU volume up higher or set my gain higher now that i have loudness off? originally i went to 60/80 vol but i turned it up to 70 just a little bit ago i went for a cruise after i searched and saw loudness is a POS setting and it still sounded good.

It's used to boost frequencies at lower volume so you get more bass and more trebble while the volume is low. Doing it when volume is loud will do the same, but results in distortion.

so since my system still sounds good at 70/80 vol.. shouldnt i turn it down to 60 and then set my gain a little higher on the amp since usually over 75% of max volume causes clipping?

and is music recorded at 0 db.. i heard it was -3 db for rap and -6 db for rock usually..

thanks for answering.. sorry im just a little excited now that i got my system to sound even better

I'd set gains according to the max listening volume.
well my HU has 5v preouts.. and people always say that over 75% volume starts to clip the signal? its still listenable at over 75% volume but arent i clipping it then?

all head units are different, some clip sooner than others. If its not clipping then you can turn the gain up.

what does "sound good" mean?
it means he likes how it sounds, sounding good is subjective. Let him enjoy his system, he's not competing in sq.geesh.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

the recorded level doesnt follow the genre of music

every song is a little different, but if i were you, id leave the gains alone and play @ 70 instead of 60
