Steel power wire bad idea?

I called up the local welding supply and all they have for welding wire is steel. Is this a bad idea for running for power/ground? Their prices are dirt cheap. Any feedback is appreciated.

You CAN use aluminum, but you have to us a larger gauge size to meet the same requirements of a copper wire.

the reason that they use multistrand wires in cars is to eliminate feedback noise. it you run solid spark plug wires ( for an example ) you will get crasy feedback through your radio. running solid wires for the power supply and ground i think would cause crasy feed back too
