State Prepares For Possible Shutdown As Talks Continue

i have a good feeling that their going to come up with something. im just wondering what ill do, if my school closes.
Schools are unaffected by the shutdown. My dad on the other hand has been told not to report for work on Monday. He works for DHS.

**** the workers in Michigan, especially Detroit. Union ass pieces of **** of the scum of this country. They ruined every good manufacturing trade that we have.

The strike to save their jobs but their only putting the nail in the coffin for outsourcing. Why pay some drunk/high American worker 80k year w/OT to sit on an assembly line when they can get 8-10+ workers for that price by outsourcing. Unskilled workers should be near minimum wage for their shiz.... Same can be said with the airline industry.

Thank god FL doesn't allow unions.

BTW I am a Democrat and I understand this article wasn't about the autoworkers / end rant.

How can a state prohibit unions?

All federal employees belong to the union. There are federal employees in FL.

You are one dumb ******* aren't you? NO ASSEMBLY WORKER IN DETROIT OR THE STATE OF MICHIGAN MAKES 80K A YEAR DUMBASS. NOBODY IS GETTING OVERTIME WITH ALL THE JOBS BEING SHIPPED OVERSEAS.

Also jackass, it was the UAW who called the strike, not the workers

Take a look at a few of these articles...while it does indicate a lack of OT shifts recently, they have been notoriously overpaid for a good 2 decades now.

Cut their wages in half and that is what they would be getting in an open market.

You are correct, FED employees belong to the union but they represent a small portion of the employment base. Most unions including Public Education and Waste disposal are very weak in this state, thus have little impact on the economy.

I love being in a right to work state!

I am in a right to work state as well.

If you belong to a union. A contract is created. The contract is treated differently than the law.

At Lowe's, you can fire people left and right.

At places with union, you cannot. You must have documentation, justification, and sometimes arbitration.
