I go to a shop occasionally and their new installer/box builder is whack. He'll tune a box with an 18 at 44 hz with a SMALL *** port and charge you $300 without carpet. They want $450 for an ssi treo 18" which isnt too bad, but i can get it for $280 from another dealer. So i started handing out my name and number and prices on different boxes and some subs/amps and people are calling.

Good luck I've been doing the same for a while, especially now to make a few extra bucks outside of work. Why not do full installs?

I do when I design it... but it only slightly changes the tuning. Most people just use a 3" kerf. (Folds 90* in 3") In that case, it doesn't change port tuning all that much.But, I guess you're too "cool" to admit that.

Kerfing looks cool, and it helps prevent port noise.

I mean, it's not a must. But, like I said, looks cool.

And Kerfing isn't really a bandwagon thing. A lot of people can't do it / don't know how to, so they don't. The people that do like to do it for that extra special touch.

Im not trying to say im to cool for kerfing, i have not had a paying customer who has wanted it. I can and will do it but not for the same price as a regular ported box.

Also i was not bashing on anyone for not calculating i was simply asking, because like you pointed out it will change the tuning freq very little and didnt know if you guys were doing it very such a slight change.
