what should i start with first? i cant afford to both at the same time so im going to start with either one. i was thinking starting my front stage first because i wont need to spend tons on electrical upgrades until i get my sub stage. what do you guys think?

Nah youll be fine. Run a nice front stage and then work on the electrical and then the substage. I have everything for my build sitting here and none of it will go in until the alt and batts get here.

This the right thing to do..but it can be tough to fight the urge to install it all.

you can go way cheaper than that and get "good" sound, unless you including the HU price and deadener

you can also skip the rear speakers and leave them stock to save some money, or remove them entirely to let the bass pass through a trunk like me(and many others)

my front stage/HU/Amp so far is a tad over $300 and sounds good and loud, but you should budget some deadener to seal the doors also which pushes you to $400. If you have to have 6x9's getting close to $500(personally I would wait till you have the fronts done 1st to see how it sounds

alright. will i really need deadener in the doors?

well, personally, it depends on what you want. me, personally, i'm ok with my stock gm components, and go after the sub(s) first. butm, i don't really like more than 100-110db in that range, and only upgrade for sq, and to be able to hear the full range with canal caps. for daily driver. sub first, and just play it within the limitations of the electrical. do big 3, then battery(s) and alternator. the mids/high, is at the point where you say to yourself one day, without thinking about it "i really need to upgrade.. this sounds like poo"... but i know plenty, that really like more along the sq, or just plain clear loud mids/highs. it's really all in your preference.
