Standard or Upgrade HU?

My car has at the moment it's standard HU with 6 disc changer. I kept it to keep the look of the dash sleek how it has been designed.... I think the standard HU is made by Blaupunkt, it seems alright, but certainly doesn't have the bells a whistles on that most HU's do.

Just wondering how much of an improvement a decent (£250 / $500) HU will make to my car's sound? It's a playoff as if I loose the standard HU, the matching 6 disc changer in the dash will probably not work...... hmmmm....dilema

I do not know what type of vehicle you drive but there are adapters available for certain vehicle types that will allow an aftermarket headunit to control an OEM disc changer.

Whether or not this option is applicable to your specific case is yet to be determined but do not completely discount the possibility of using that OEM changer just yet...

Unless you are looking for some specific features of an aftermarket unit (mp3, ipod capability, crossover, etc., keep your unit.
No real extra features, just wondering how much improved the SQ will be.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Since you have amps, components and subs in your system, I think you would notice a big difference in SQ. If i was in your shoes I would upgrade.

If the changer is the only thing holding you back, just get a HU that supprts mp3 and make 320 kbps rips of your cd's onto one mp3 and you can probably fit more than 6 discs worth of music onto one cd anyways.
