The DOW isn't necessarily a reliable source. It is a selection of a handful of companies, out of tens of thousands, and is controlled and measured by so much speculation and guessing it's not even funny. Hell, the market tanked right after we won WWII, and everyone knows that the times following WWII were some of the most prosperous in US history. I'm not saying the economy isn't tanking right now, because it certainly is, but saying that one number is the only measure of the President's performance, especially when that number is just a guess and the guy hasn't had time enough to fix things, is just asinine.
The DOW is an indicator of the market as a whole... which is why it was chosen to be what it is... as is NASDAQ, look at all the markets. You see a market that's gone
up since the US decided to spend about 2.5 trillion dollars in the middle of the worst economic crunch in decades? During his first 6 weeks in office???? This is the
CHANGE we've all been hearing about for a year???? I'd love to see it, but the fact is, it ain't happenin'. I'm not bagging on the guy saying he should have the whole system fixed by now... I know it takes years to undo the kind of mess we're in. My point is, I don't think what he's doing is going to work, and not a single person I've spoken to in the lay public, nor much of anyone outside of Washington thinks this whole scheme is the best way to go about things.
I honestly think this whole situation is going to get a LOT worse before it gets better, and while that's not all Obama's fault, I do NOT think he's doing anything concrete to stop or reverse it. His ideas on healthcare reform are a joke... I read his stance on how he'd revamp the system, and from an insider's viewpoint, it's nothing but a shell game moving money from one system to another, and is quite likely to make matters worse than they are now... I don't think he's got any stronger a grasp of the economy than he does healthcare, which is about the level of a 10th-grader. It's sad, but because he can deliver a speech, is photogenic and is a minority, he got the bandwagon vote and is going to lead us to another 4 (possibly 8) years of out of control spending and expansion of the welfare mentality that got us into this cesspool in the first place.
Good luck to him, and I honestly hope I'm wrong... I don't WANT to see this country go down the tubes any farther, but you know what they say... hope for the best, plan for the worst. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
