Just got a Sundown 12z3 in a custom box from a member on here. Thanks @04lariat

I know that its not fair to compare the xcon with the Sundown but the Sundown is so vicious. Haven't even turned it up to max because I'm afraid something's going to loosen and fall off. I'm so happy. Just need a different sized box and a lighter one. My cars kinda dragging! Ha

So before I got this sundown, o had plans on getting a box made for a JL 13w6v2. Could the JL ever be in the same league as this sundown with the right box?

The w6 is a good sub but the sundown Z is for sure in another league (most people would probably favor even the sundown X over the w6).

Keeping it as a backup. Or if I'm taking a long trip. But I have to get a new box for the z, its crazy heavy

I'm just happy I finally have something that can really deliver. The xcon is great, especially for a 10. If it was in a SUV it would be enough.

Seen 2 13W3s pull 44s in a SQ car. They can deliver.

JL gets crap for 2 reasons

#1 if the person knows how to use them they are using them for sound quality builds

#2 there are more people that are stupid and have them installed all wrong.

I had 2 sundown sa 12"s in a custom ported and paid more to lessen blow but in return get what I call a cleaner sound/bass. The sundowns were vicious and the JL are but it's a nice , clean vicious. For vicious output , no doubt about it, get the sundowns , for good output but cleaner ? Get the JL. Let us know what you do and your opinion .

I think your front stage is really important when running a competition grade subwoofer. Its hard to explain but I know what your talking about.

But this sundown with the box its in sound pretty **** good musically too. The punch on kick drums is awesome. Great track for drum kick, Dreamtheater - The Dark Eternal Night.

But stuff like deftones, Pink Floyd, Primus sound great too.

how about the sundown SA walks all over them for the money? how about the IA flatlyne or lethal injection? or the crescendo audio forte? they have so many woofers that have high higher displacement and are every-bit as linear for the same price or less.

simply put they are a rip off and under preform for the money spent. i spent 600$ on a single 12 2515A and a rd 1750 and it EASILY kept up with the w7 and jl 1000 for almost 2k installed in a friends car. he sold his stuff and realized how much of a **** rip off it was.. needless to say he never bough another JL product again..

I don't think you would know good sound if it punched you in the face so your words mean little.
