SSA Icon ??? Denim? Anyone?

Its time for a new sub, and the SSA Icon looks really nice.

Im undecided on 10/12 yet, as the enclosure must be 100% stealth.

A few questions though.

First-How well will it do on 900rms? Coming from an old Zeus in stereo, running a D2 sub@450/coil? Amp definitely puts out a little more, but is 900-1000 a tad weak for this sub?

Second, how well does it perform in the "optimal" enclosure, does it "want" more space/"like" lower tuning etc?

Goal here is to have a strong sub stage, for daily driving a little on the loud side.

As for the Icon, great choice. In my daily driver, I have a single Icon 12 on 700 watts and performs very well, so 900 is plenty.

 

The optimal enclosures, are my personal suggestions for our subs for a fuller bottom end and greater efficiency. All the subs will perform without question on the standard suggestions, but for the people not stressed about numbers and more worried about great daily listening, that have the little extra space, the optimal enclosure suggestion is the choice.

Zeus will want to run HOT at 2 ohm stereo / 4 ohm strapped. Keep it someplace where it'll get plenty of air.

@hispl-funny u mention that. Put the first coat of paint on my shroud last night.

Made the shroud to fit the Zeus but it also works on my other VI amps.

Used a scythe 5.7 inch fan, its dead quiet. If I could post pics from my phone Id do so. Kinda proud of it.

That depends, what is the "smallish 12 ported"? I ask as usually I suggest the larger cone; due to efficiency, great cone surface and minimal price difference. But, if the 12" is being choked (hence the question), then give the 10" a great box.

Along the lines of your "small" enclosure listed for the 12, vs your "optimal" spec for the 10.

By "small" I assume you mean the standard sizing, if so, the 12" model will work great.

I think I just replied to your email. The pair of Dcon's will have more cone area overall, while everything else is fairly close when comparing 2 to 1/ Dcon to Icon. So if potential output on that power is a goal, the pair of Dcon's is the better choice.

Clean sound is the goal moreso than spl, but spl is never a bad thing.

The single is do-able in my middle seat area. If the two would outperform SQ of one, I may consider making a larger enclosure.

Ideally, a complete stealth install is the goal, but I could fudge a little on that.
