SS RL-s vs RE MX

All I can say is i'm VERY happy with my 2 15" RL-p's. Great SQ, and they get loud. 146.6 on a new LT mic, and still sound great with any kind of music. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

what note were you playing at? box specs?

Who recomended the Mtx 9500 pieces of shat? Yeah, they do get loud, but "sound great"? Wow, boy do we have an audiophile over here, NOT! They sound horrible, some of the worst sounding subs i've ever heard. They are an spl sub, so that's what they sound like. Do not buy them.

The subs have 2.5cubes per ported to 32hz with a slot port. There getting 900w rms, and the burp was with a 47hz tone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

a 137.9 is nothing worth bragging about.IIRC someone on this forum even did a 135 with an RL-i 8 lmao.
I was doing 137.x with a pair of JL 10W0's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif and about 100 watts to each.

I loved all the talk of how it was going to be such a W7 killer when it came out, then it did and it wasn't lmao.

yeah, i'm sure you was. and the rl-s is a w7 killer. h2h it's far and away a better sub.

with a bit of tweaking james herren (yeah street a 2004 world champ) thought we could break a 140. we didn't play with box placement or anything. put the mic on the glass, run a sweep, then burp. and don't forget, this is with a factory gm headunit. the bass signal gets weaker as the volume goes up. so given straight voltage, it would've been a 140 fairly easy, IMO.

and rl-i 8's aren't anything to sneeze at. especially the one i have in h/t use.

but then again, it is you who are boasting. which is like lemans box building skills. pretty falking shabby.

but enough of that...

you sir, don't remember correctly...lol...
i powered the 12" rl-s with 1200rms, in 2.5ft^3 ported, 32in^2 of port tuned to 28hz. it did a 137.9 legal@34hz with the factoty gm head unit which attenuates bass as you turn it up.

to date, there's not a sub on the planet i've had the pleasure of listening too that can touch the rl-s. that includes a 04 xxx, the rl-p, the new magnum, all kicker products, all memphis products, all treo subs, type r,e,and s jsut to name a few. the rl-s gets loud, low and stays insanely clean no matter how loud you crank it.

but for those who think you HAVE to have a huge box and huge power for the rl-s, think again. while it will definitely benefit from more power and more room, it does better then great in a typical "supersub" setup.

and they look better then any sub on the market...cone wise anyway..lol...

as too rl-p vs new magnum= flip a coin. those two subs are extremely close. can't go wrong either way. i guess it boils down to how much you wanna spend and if you just have to have a particular name brand. i'd love to have both, alas, i only have one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

u also pulled a 139.9 @a slightly higher freq

i still believeif u tuned the box to 35hz u can be well into the 140's

80

80..the 139 was done at the headrest outlaw. just to see..it was done at 34hz as well. it did a 133 legal at the headrest.

yeah, with different tuning i believe we would have been well into the 40's....hell, putting the mic in the kick and going outlaw at 34hz would have put it in the 40's.

but hey...it was built for the lows, not the mic. the fact is, it did good on the mic. it's not a purpose built burp box. and don't forget the factory h/u. that probably hurt the score as much as anything.

mountaineer man...why shouldn't i doubt anyone who isn't me? and maybe you did do those numbers, but you don't say how or what mic. and it doesn't really matter anyway. the fact remains, most everything you say is in flame. you try to sound smart by instigating, not proving or providing.

and with that...

if youre doing a ranger, do dual 15s. ive tried 3 12s, and it was great, but 2 15s has more cone area:)

plus, my 2 sx 15s are now officially back over 150db, certified this past weekend.

video of subs and truck in sig.

I could've sworn I at least put the mic. down. The mic was the TL, score was legal at the dash. The box was a 4th order BP (no not a pre-fab) but it could still play music.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.I will not kiss any ***, I'll give you a straight out opinion.Sometimes this is mistaken for flaming.Other times, I will be an ***.Regardless, what is stated is my OPINION, and that's EXACTLY what you have.Just because "you" say it, doesn't make it a fact and disqualify everyone elses OPINION.You come it off as a "know it all" type.Just learn to deal with the facts that other people will have opinions too.I don't "try" to sound smart (but obviously you do).If it appears I'm trying, it's by pure accident. If someone asks for a true opinion, they'll get one from me.I hold no personal grudges, I'm just giving my OPINION on the matter.Deal with it.
