Sr6500 + Pdx 4.100?

I am planning an SQ system and just placed an order for a pair of SR6500's matched up with an Alpine 4.100 AMP.

I was just wondering if running the Alpine PDX 4.100 bi-amped to the SR6500's would be sufficient or if I should go with the 4.150 instead.

The 4.100 sends 100W RMS while the 4.150 send 150W RMS.

Would it be better to power the SR6500's bi-amped with 100W or 150W?

I just want to be sure I don't overpower or underpower the components.

If you pay attention to what your hearing so cant very easily over power a speaker. I personally run double to triple the RMS power on all my speakers other than my subs. I would do the same with the subs if I could afford $9000 for a Zapco 4KW. You cannot have enough headroom in my opinion. I have a SQ car and run in excess of 3000wrms of Zapco C2K power which most would say is extreme overkill but taslk about dynamic.

So maybe my best bet would be to keep the 4.100, run it bridged @ 200W per channel and send it to the SR6500's?

I really wanted to run them bi-amped but that would mean 100W RMS to each speaker/tweeter.

I would run active if you have the xover power and run 100w to each. Figuring the passives are going to chew up some of your power. Nice choice of speakers btw, they are some of my favorites! If you havent looked into the SR subs they are definately worth a listen. Truly outstanding drivers that I very much compare to JL W6's.

I am not quite sure of how to run them active. Can you explain how I would need to hook it up to have it run in active mode? Would I still be using the passive xover that ships with the speakers?

I understand the logic behind active vs passive but not sure of how to connect them without an electronic xover in the mix. Thx.

The 4.100 bridged will be plenty for your tastes, I'd imagine. Consider the amp is near 90% efficiency and does more than rated power at 14.4v.

I also don't see an advantage of bi-wiring the passive in your case unless you feel you really need separate gains for the tweeter and the mid.
