I was looking into the L7's myself, when I have heard that square woofers don't sound as good as circular.

Search around. The l7s can sound fine in a good box. The box will determine what sounds good at the end of the day.

That analogy is pretty....worthless.

There are some challenges to a square design. The square cone and square-shaped surround pose some issues to things like cone flex, linear surround motion and uneven stress being applied to either or. Some examples of how Kicker, for example, dealt with these can be seen by the large ribs on the cones and in the corners of the surrounds.

But aside from those issues, there's nothing inherently "wrong" with a square design. I've seen some pretty ridiculous claims about how "square subs" can only create "square" sound waves, or stuff along those lines....but all of that nonsense is simply idiotic ramblings and not based on physics.

BTW; L7's have been used in many world sound quality championship vehicles that are competing in the highest and toughest classes.

Does that mean the L7 is the greatest SQ sub ever? Absolutely not.

Does that mean that when properly used, the L7 is capable of accurate sound reproduction? Yes.

And to the OP, it probably isn't a stupid question. I've asked plenty of what, in hindsight, were stupid questions, and had plenty of stupid ideas and concepts in my head over time while learning this hobby. The only reason I've learned what I have is because people answered those stupid questions or corrected those stupid concepts with intelligent answers and responses.
