SQ woofer

alot of people here have alot more experience than i, but i like to use scarface for rap and pantera for metal when i test. i never use burned mp3's either, only store bought. i am going to buy a "bass mechanics" cd for my newer setup when finished.

Just use a high qulaity recording of a gener that uses a wide range of frequincies. Reggae, most rock, Jazz, etc... all work.
Reggae is a good choice. UB40's Red Red Wine is one that I use. Pantera's Cemetery Gates for testing rock/metal.

lots of songs that are made with real intruments no digitally made are good to use. lots of country, rock, jazz are useful. but its not so much the song as it is knowing what to listen for. pick a song that you have heard performed live by the same band if you can.

The Eagles and Eric Clapton performing Hotel California is an amazing song for SQ. Awesome guitars and kick drum.

I use this song for testing transient response and frequency range:

It has bass ranging from some 60-70hz hits and quickly transitioning to about 30hz hits with a breakdown right around 30hz. This gives a good idea of high frequency extension and low frequency extension of the sub as well as transient response. Awesome song.

Lamb of God's "Now you've got something to die for" is another awesome song for kick drum.

Deftones' "Battle Axe" and "Change" also put a good workout on the sub for keeping the kick drum tight while the bass is dropping low.

Some other songs I use are below:

http://media.putfile.com/Dawn-of-Living-Boom (great for testing low frequency extension)

i use a lot of earth, wind, and fire. store bought cd only. i also use the gold remastered version of michael jacksons thriller. that is the cleanest cd i have ever heard.
